When I was a teenager someone asked me, "Do you believe in Jesus?"
I thought back to Sunday school where I learned about Him. Recalling John 3:16, For God so loved the world,
that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life,
I replied, "Yes, I believe in Him."
Then I was asked, "Do you know Him?"
More questions arose in my mind. Do I just know about Him, like I know about our nation's president? Do I know Him like
He's a member of my family? Or can I know Jesus as the One closest to me?
At that time, God seemed so far from me. . . so unreachable. I realized my wrong choices separated me from
God (Isaiah 59:2). I discovered that trying to be as good as I could didn't close that gap, as if being a "good girl"
resulted in visits from "Santa." I also learned that a church or religious affiliation can never write my name in the
Lamb's book of life, but Jesus can and will . . .when I choose Him.
It was time for me to make the decision that would change my life, my eternity. He was knocking on the door to my
heart.
Are you sensing it's time for you to make the decision?
Jesus said, "If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in..." (Revelation 3:20).
Do you want to know Him? If so, with a simple prayer you can invite Jesus to come in. Here's an example:
Lord, I've made wrong choices.
I need Your forgiveness.
Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross
to pay the punishment for my sins.
Thank you for forgiving me.
I ask You to enter my heart and life by the Holy Spirit.
I desire to know You intimately
and be closer to You than any other.
